SCOUT

SCOUT (as the successor of SCOUT_98) is a 32 bit software for Windows 95/98/NT/2000 which, at present, has the following features:

Simulation of optical spectra like

Model calculations are based on

Optical constant models (Drude model for free carriers, harmonic oscillators, extended oscillator models (Brendel, Kim), OJL interband transition model, Campi-Coriasso interband transition model, Tauc-Lorentz interband transition model, user-defined expressions for optical constants, imported dielectric functions)
Various effective medium concepts for inhomogeneous materials (Maxwell Garnett, Bruggeman, Looyenga, Bergman representation)
Wave propagation in layer stacks including coherent or incoherent superposition of partial waves, easy definition of superlattices, corrections for scattering losses at rough interfaces and efficient averaging algorithm for layer thickness inhomogeneities. Easy definition of gradually changing optical properties. Certain types of anisotropic layers.
